Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed that an uninterrupted supply of energy be ensured to promote industrial development.
A meeting on reforms in the energy sector was held under the chairmanship of the prime minister, during which he instructed authorities to improve the electricity transmission system and bring about a marked reduction in line losses.

The prime minister said steps should be taken to facilitate both industrial and domestic electricity consumers, and stressed the promotion of modern technology in the energy sector.
He also directed that renewable energy projects be encouraged to address the country’s energy shortfall, and called for a comprehensive strategy to maintain stability in electricity tariffs.
Shehbaz Sharif emphasised the expansion of digital facilities to ease bill payments for consumers, and ordered that strict measures against power theft continue.
He said uninterrupted energy supply must be ensured for industrial growth, adding that providing relief to domestic consumers remains among the government’s foremost priorities. Reforms in the energy sector, he added, would be carried out with due regard to the broader interests of the public and industry.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Economic Affairs Minister Ahad Khan Cheema, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Power Minister Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik, Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani, Special Assistant Haroon Akhtar, and senior officials from relevant institutions.
