Pakistan has strongly reacted to a social media statement by the British Special Representative for Afghanistan.
The spokesperson of the Foreign Office has rejected the recent social media comments made by the British Special Representative for Afghanistan, calling them unilateral and based on an incomplete understanding of the situation.
According to the statement, the remarks fail to reflect the ground realities along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
The Foreign Office said such comments do not provide a balanced or accurate perspective of ongoing developments in the region.
Border tensions and security situation
The statement highlighted that cross-border aggression and infiltration attempts from Afghan soil have continued despite Pakistan’s goodwill gesture of a temporary ceasefire announced in March 2026.
It said that elements associated with the Afghan Taliban and allegedly supported by Indian proxies have carried out repeated attacks across the border.
During these incidents, 52 civilians were martyred and 84 others injured due to unprovoked firing and attacks, according to the Foreign Office.
Pakistan’s Response and Operations
The spokesperson said Pakistan has exercised restraint despite repeated provocations.
It added that security forces carried out targeted and effective operations against terrorist hideouts and support networks.
Several infiltration attempts were also successfully foiled, preventing further escalation along the border regions.
The statement emphasized that Pakistan’s actions were defensive and focused on eliminating militant threats.
Rejection of civilian casualty claims
The Foreign Office dismissed allegations of civilian casualties attributed to Pakistan’s response, calling them baseless and unsupported by evidence.
It said such claims do not reflect verified facts on the ground and should not be presented without proper investigation.
Pakistan urged the international community to understand the situation in light of regional realities and its long-standing sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
The statement stressed the need for an impartial and fact-based approach when commenting on sensitive border issues.
It also reiterated Pakistan’s principled stance against terrorism and cross-border militancy.
