Three people were injured when a quadcopter was used in an attack on a cricket ground in Mamund, Bajaur district.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the attack was carried out by Fitna-ul-Khawarij in Shahy Tangi tehsil of Mamund. The injured were shifted to hospital shortly after the incident.
A recent press Llease from the Deputy Commissioner Bajaur stated that during March and April 2026, mortar shells were fired from the Afghan side into several border areas of Bajaur, particularly Mamund and Salarzai. Nine civilians were killed in such incidents, including three women and six children.
Local sources said the attack was deliberately timed while a cricket match was in progress at the ground. It is stated that quadcopters have been used in similar incidents to spread fear among the public, with video evidence reportedly available.
Security analysts said that militants are targeting unarmed civilians as they are unable to confront security forces directly. Public anger is reported to be increasing due to repeated incidents. Security forces, according to officials, continue operations targeting militant positions and supporting infrastructure.
