Security forces foiled two attempts at infiltration along the Pak-Afghan border in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing 13 Khawarij.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), in Mohmand district, eight Khawarij were killed during an operation carried out amid an infiltration attempt. In North Waziristan district, five Khawarij were killed in an intense exchange of fire along the border.
The ISPR has said that the militants, termed as Fitna al-Khawarij and backed by India, were attempting to enter Pakistan. The group involved in the Mohmand incident was traced in time, leading to swift action by security forces.
Moreover, the ISPR has said the Afghan Taliban administration has failed to ensure effective border management. Afghan soil, the ISPR added, is being used for terrorist activities against Pakistan.
The ISPR has asked the Afghan Taliban to fulfil their responsibilities and deny safe havens to such elements.
Security forces have remained resolute in defending the country’s frontiers, it said, adding that a clearance operation is under way in the area.
The ISPR said that operations under “Azm-e-Istehkam” will continue to eliminate terrorism, vowing complete eradication of militancy backed by foreign elements.
