Tensions between the United States and Iran remain high as diplomatic efforts continue behind the scenes.
The White House has confirmed that negotiations are still ongoing, even as President Donald Trump escalates warnings over stalled nuclear talks.
The White House said US negotiators are still in communication with Iranian officials.
According to spokesperson Anna Kelly, discussions are continuing despite what Washington describes as internal uncertainty within Iran’s leadership structure amid ongoing conflict conditions.
Trump’s strong warning to Iran
President Trump has intensified pressure on Iran, posting on his Truth Social platform that the country must “get smart soon.”
He criticized Iran’s handling of nuclear negotiations, stating they “don’t know how to sign a nonnuclear deal” and warning against delays in reaching an agreement.
Nuclear deal standoff continues
The US has maintained that any agreement must prioritize national security and prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
The White House also emphasized that President Trump will not rush into any deal that could be seen as weak or unfavorable to US interests.
Escalating rhetoric on social media
Trump’s post included an AI-generated image showing him carrying a rifle, with explosions in the background and a banner reading: “NO MORE MR. NICE GUY!”
The message added to growing uncertainty around the fragile ceasefire and stalled diplomatic talks.
Rob Geist Pinfold, a lecturer in international security at King’s College London, said the situation has moved beyond direct military escalation.
He described the current phase as “intense competition,” where both sides are attempting to project strength and resilience.
According to him, Iran’s proposal appears to delay key issues while focusing on ending conflict and reopening strategic trade routes like the Strait of Hormuz.
