Sri Lanka Cricket president Shammi Silva and the executive committee have resigned, following approval at a special committee meeting held a day earlier.
The development is reported to have followed a request from Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who met Silva last Friday in an effort to secure an amicable exit amid growing public pressure and allegations of financial irregularities.
The government is expected to appoint an interim committee, with former parliamentarian Eran Wickramaratne likely to head the proposed set-up.
Former cricketers Sidath Wettimuny and Roshan Mahanama are also being considered for roles, though no formal announcement has been made.
