Remembering Mary Macleod Trump
Trump’s comments were part of a broader reflection on his mother, Mary Anne MacLeod Trump.
Born in Scotland’s Outer Hebrides in 1912, she immigrated to the United States in 1930 and became a citizen in 1942.
She later married Fred Trump, and the couple raised five children in New York, with Donald Trump being the fourth.

Mary Macleod passed away in August 2000 at the age of 88.
State visit
The exchange took place during the second day of King Charles III’s official visit to Washington D.C.
The British monarch, accompanied by Queen Camilla, was formally welcomed in a state ceremony hosted by Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.
The visit is being seen as a significant moment in US-UK diplomatic relations.
Historic address to Congress
Later in the visit, King Charles III is scheduled to deliver a historic address to the US Congress.
This will mark only the second time a British monarch has addressed Congress, following Queen Elizabeth II in 1991.
In his speech, the King is expected to emphasize the enduring “special relationship” between the United States and the United Kingdom, despite differences on global issues, including the ongoing Iran conflict.
