The public in Pakistan have called for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) semi-finals to be opened to spectators.
Cricket is regarded not merely as a sport but as a national passion. It is urged that matches ought not to be held in empty stadiums, but before crowds reflecting the country’s enthusiasm and spirit.
An appeal has been directed to the government and the prime minister to grant the public the opportunity to support their heroes from the stands.
The hashtag #OpenPSLforPublic has also circulated widely on social media in this regard.
It is pertinent to note that on April 25, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif permitted spectators to attend the Pakistan Super League 11 final at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The decision has been received as welcome news by supporters who had hoped to witness the tournament’s showpiece event in person.
The final is scheduled for May 3 at the Gaddafi Stadium, one of Pakistan’s most prominent cricket venues.
