German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has termed the ongoing conflict between the United States, Israel and Iran as entirely unnecessary.
In a statement, the German chancellor said the war was increasing instability at a global level, with its effects being felt across Europe, Asia and the United States. He stressed that only a united Europe could provide an effective response to the present challenges. During two days of meetings with the heads of the 27 member states of the European Union (EU), several key global issues were discussed, including the Iran dispute.
Friedrich Merz said that the new economic reality must be accepted, however difficult it may be, and that Europe must adapt its policies in line with the changing global situation.
