The government has reduced the prices of light diesel oil and jet fuel in the weekly revision of petroleum product prices, providing relief in selected fuel categories.
According to a notification issued by OGRA, the revised prices will apply after major reductions in both fuels.
The price of light diesel oil has been reduced by Rs28.81 per litre. After the reduction, the new price of light diesel oil has been fixed at Rs270.51 per litre, according to the notification.
Light diesel oil is commonly used in different sectors, and the price cut is expected to provide some relief to consumers and businesses relying on the fuel.
Jet fuel also becomes cheaper
The price of jet fuel has also been reduced in the latest weekly revision.
According to the notification, jet fuel has become cheaper by Rs74.07 per litre. After the decrease, the new price of jet fuel has been fixed at Rs396.31 per litre.
The revised prices were announced through an OGRA notification issued in Islamabad. The notification confirmed that light diesel oil and fuel used in aviation have become cheaper under the latest weekly adjustment of petroleum product prices.
Transport fares have also been increased following the recent rise in petroleum product prices, adding fresh pressure on passengers already struggling with higher travel costs.

In Lahore, the RTA secretary held talks with transporters at Transport House, where a limited fare increase of 3% to 4% was approved. Meanwhile, public transporters and goods carriers also announced fare hikes, citing rising diesel and petrol expenses.
Negotiations took place between RTA Secretary Rana Mohsin and transporters to discuss the demand for higher fares. Following the talks, transporters agreed to increase fares by 3% to 4%.
Intercity fares rise
Public transport fares from Lahore to different cities have been increased by Rs60 to Rs460. The fare from Lahore to Rawalpindi has been fixed at Rs2,340 after an increase of Rs110.
The fare from Lahore to Peshawar has been fixed at Rs3,100 after an increase of Rs150. Fares for Faisalabad and Sargodha have been fixed at Rs1,260 after an increase of Rs60.

Goods transporters also raise fares
Goods transporters and mini Mazda owners have also increased their fares by 5% after the rise in petroleum prices. Public circles said the continuous increase in petroleum product prices is deepening economic difficulties for ordinary citizens.
