White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said on Friday that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, envoys of President Donald Trump, will arrive in Islamabad tomorrow for talks with Iran.
In an interview with Fox News, she stated that Iran had made contact and requested a face-to-face meeting. She added that Vice President JD Vance would remain on standby in the United States and could depart for Pakistan if required.
She added that recent days had shown progress from the Iranian side. In her media talk, Karoline Leavitt said Iranian engagement reflected movement forward in the process.
She said that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner would depart for Islamabad on Saturday morning, adding that JD Vance would monitor the situation from the United States.
All officials would remain on standby should travel to Pakistan be necessary. The US delegation is travelling for negotiations facilitated through Pakistan.
Karoline Leavitt said Pakistan had played an excellent role as mediator throughout the process.
