Russia has said it is not acting as a mediator in the Iran matter, but stands ready to assist negotiations if required.
The Kremlin spokesperson told a press briefing that there is hope the Iran–United States dialogue will continue, adding that talks are necessary to shield the global economy from adverse consequences.
Separately, a spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry said that, owing to the prevailing war situation, restoration of traffic through the Strait of Hormuz is not possible. He said the situation in the waterway cannot be normalised unilaterally. He added that Iran’s nuclear material will be secured within the country, and that there can be no discussion in negotiations on the transfer of enriched uranium.
