Iran has ruled out immediate participation in a new round of negotiations with the United States, escalating tensions with sharp accusations of ceasefire violations and warnings of possible military retaliation.
At a press briefing, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baqaie said Tehran currently has no plans to join a second round of talks with the US.
He cited Washington’s “unrealistic demands” and constantly shifting positions as major obstacles to diplomacy, adding that the US “is not learning its lessons” and is not serious about negotiations.
Baqaie accused the United States of violating the ceasefire from the very beginning of its implementation. He said Iran had informed Pakistan, acting as a mediator, about these violations, particularly highlighting the continuation of the US naval blockade as a breach of the agreement.
The spokesperson also alleged that the US attacked an Iranian ship and imposed a maritime blockade, calling both actions violations of international law and the ceasefire.
Tensions over Strait of Hormuz
Iran blamed the United States and Israel for escalating tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, stating that the waterway was safe before what it described as US-Israeli attacks.

Baqaie said Washington’s stance on the ceasefire, including claims that agreements in Lebanon were not part of the deal, further complicated the situation despite Iran clarifying its position to the Pakistani mediator.
Iran warns of military response
The spokesperson warned that Iranian forces would respond to any “foolish action” by US forces, stressing that Tehran will continue to defend its national interests.
He added that if the US and Israel initiate new aggression, Iran’s armed forces are ready to respond accordingly.

A separate statement from an Iranian military spokesperson confirmed readiness to retaliate over the seizure of an Iranian ship, noting that any response had been delayed to ensure the safety of the crew.
Iran accused the US of attacking its territory, killing Iranian citizens, and targeting infrastructure during previous negotiations.
Baqaie said Washington has violated talks twice and is now engaged in a “blame game,” accusing Iran instead of taking constructive steps.
“It seems that America is not serious at all,” he said, adding that US diplomacy is unstable and based on accusations.
Diplomatic efforts, international stance
Iran revealed that it had submitted a 10-point proposal during talks in Islamabad, which was discussed with mediators.
Baqaie criticized Europe for not taking a clear stance on what he described as war crimes in Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran, while expressing gratitude to Russia and China for their “responsible” positions.

He also emphasized that it is in the international community’s interest to hold the US and Israel accountable.
A senior Iranian official told Reuters that significant differences between Iran and the US remain unresolved, particularly over the nuclear program.
The official added that the US blockade is harming the negotiation process, while making it clear that Iran’s defense capabilities and missile program are not open for discussion.
Rising uncertainty in diplomatic path
With tensions escalating and trust eroding, prospects for renewed negotiations appear increasingly uncertain.
Iran’s firm stance, combined with continued accusations and military warnings, signals a challenging road ahead for diplomatic efforts aimed at easing the crisis.
