Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has issued a strong warning to the United States and its allies, saying Iran’s military is ready to respond forcefully.
In a statement shared on social media and carried by official media, Khamenei said Iran’s “brave navy stands ready to make the enemies taste the bitterness of new defeats.”
He warned that Iranian forces are fully prepared to counter any threat, particularly from the United States and Israel, as tensions continue to rise.
Army Day message
The statement was issued on the occasion of Iran’s Army Day on April 18, where the Supreme Leader congratulated the armed forces. He described the Iranian army as “like the son of the nation,” emphasizing that it is rooted in the people and plays a vital role in defending the country.
Claims of foreign conspiracy
Khamenei also accused “some powers” of attempting to divide Iran, suggesting ongoing external efforts to destabilize the country. He said the Iranian army has made history by thwarting conspiracies linked to the United States and remnants of the Pahlavi dynasty.
Praising recent military operations, Khamenei highlighted the army’s role in confronting enemies, including the use of drones against US and Israeli targets.
He described these actions as part of Iran’s broader strategy to defend its sovereignty and deter aggression.
Tensions linked to Strait of Hormuz
The warning comes as Iran and the United States continue to spar over the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil route. Iran has repeatedly signaled that its naval forces are ready to act in response to any escalation in the region.
According to reports, Khamenei has not been seen in public since before the start of the recent conflict, making his latest statement particularly significant.
The message was distributed through official channels, including his Telegram account and Iran’s state news agency IRNA.
