Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi, middle-order batsman Umar Akmal and former fast bowler Abdur Rouf Khan have offered prayers for the speedy recovery of former Afghanistan fast bowler Shahpoor Zadran, who is seriously ill in hospital.
In a message on X, formerly Twitter, Afridi said he had spoken to Zadran’s brother and was saddened to learn of his condition. He said Zadran had always been a fighter on the field and expressed hope that he would overcome his illness, while offering prayers for his recovery.

Umar Akmal said Zadran was like a brother to him and expressed his wish for his early recovery.

Abdur Rouf Khan also expressed sorrow over Zadran’s illness, recalling his good nature and shared memories, and prayed for his complete recovery and protection.

Shahpoor Zadran was among Afghanistan’s early fast-bowling prospects and had established his credentials before announcing his retirement in 2025.
