FIFA President Gianni Infantino has confirmed that Iran will participate in the upcoming FIFA World Cup, stating that the country has qualified and its players are eager to compete on football’s biggest stage.
Infantino emphasized that sport should remain separate from political considerations, reiterating FIFA’s position on maintaining neutrality in international competitions.
According to FIFA scheduling, Iran’s group-stage matches will be held in California and Seattle as part of the tournament structure.
The upcoming FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with the tournament set to begin on June 11.
Officials noted that despite global political tensions, all qualified teams are expected to participate under FIFA regulations, with the focus remaining on sporting competition and international representation.
