Rain and snowfall have been forecast for the upper parts of the country, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from April 12 to 17, while Sindh and Balochistan are expected to remain hot and dry, with temperatures at a few places likely to stay above normal.
According to an alert issued by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), a fresh spell of rain is likely to affect Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa intermittently between April 12 and 17. Snowfall is also expected in Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir and the upper areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the coming week.
In contrast, parts of Sindh and Balochistan may face intense heat, with temperatures expected to rise above the seasonal average.
The NDMA has warned that strong winds, lightning and hailstorms may damage trees and power lines. Rain may render roads slippery and disrupt the flow of traffic. In view of possible landslides in hilly areas, provincial and district administrations have been directed to keep all arrangements in place.
