A two-week ceasefire in the Middle East conflict has been followed by preparations for a permanent peace agreement, with Islamabad hosting the latest round of diplomatic talks under Pakistan’s arrangement.
The United States delegation is represented by Vice President JD Vance, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, while Iran is represented by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. Foreign delegations are expected to arrive in Islamabad at any time.
In view of the arrival of foreign delegations for the Islamabad talks, the Red Zone has been completely sealed, with entry restricted to authorised personnel only. The Interior Minister has directed that all possible security arrangements be ensured for visiting delegations.
A special meeting on security and administrative arrangements was held under the chairmanship of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, during which preparations and the security plan for the US-Iran talks in Islamabad were reviewed in detail.
Mohsin Naqvi stated that the hosting of US–Iran talks in Islamabad following the ceasefire is a matter of honour for Pakistan. He further directed that all arrangements, including hospitality and security for foreign guests, be ensured.
Separately, the government has announced facilitation measures for participants of Islamabad Talks 2026, issuing a special visa policy through the Ministry of Interior.
All incoming participants of Islamabad Talks 2026 will be granted visa-on-arrival facilities, while airlines have been directed to allow boarding for participants. Special facilitation desks have also been set up at airports for passenger guidance, according to a notification signed by Section Officer (Visa) Agha Hasher Mahmood Khan.
