British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer visited the United Arab Emirates, where he met UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi.
According to Gulf sources, the two leaders held detailed talks on the latest regional situation. The meeting covered the current situation in the Middle East, regional and international security, maritime security, energy supplies, and the impact on the global economy.
Reports stated that particular attention was given to recent tensions, the fragile stage of the Iran ceasefire, and the importance of safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, a route of exceptional significance for global energy and trade.
An official statement said President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed stressed that regional crises should be resolved through diplomacy, dialogue and peaceful means. Sir Keir Starmer expressed British solidarity with the UAE, stating that the United Kingdom stands with the Emirates in safeguarding its security, stability and sovereignty.
In this context, both leaders also underlined the need for practical measures to help sustain the ceasefire and ensure the safety of maritime routes.
British sources said Starmer’s Gulf visit was not limited to responding to the immediate crisis but also aimed at advancing a broader regional strategy through consultations with allied countries. The development reflects that Abu Dhabi and London are viewing security, trade, energy and diplomatic engagement within an integrated framework at this sensitive stage, while the UAE has once again emerged as a key diplomatic centre in the region.
