Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that U.S. and Iranian delegations will visit Pakistan on Friday, praising the country’s diplomatic efforts in securing a historic two-week ceasefire.
He expressed hope that the flames of war may be extinguished permanently.
Addressing the cabinet, Shehbaz Sharif highlighted Pakistan’s leadership in de-escalating the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran.
- He thanked Iranian President Masoud Peshmerga and U.S. President Donald Trump for accepting Pakistan’s ceasefire proposal.
- PM Sharif said Pakistan’s strategy, patience, and unity were instrumental in preventing a possible regional disaster.
- He emphasized that Pakistan’s efforts have strengthened its global and Islamic world influence.
Leadership and international support
PM Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged the tireless efforts of Pakistan’s political and military leadership:
- Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and his team worked extensively behind the scenes.
- Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir maintained continuous contact with U.S. and Iranian leaders.
- China, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Turkey, Indonesia, Egypt, Azerbaijan, and the UAE provided full support.
The prime minister also condemned the recent attack on Saudi Arabia’s petrochemical complex, reiterating Pakistan’s solidarity with Riyadh.
Shehbaz Sharif said the ceasefire demonstrates the world’s respect for Pakistan:
- “The honor and respect that Allah Almighty has bestowed on Pakistan today is the collective achievement of the entire nation,” he stated.
- The prime minister urged cabinet members to continue promoting peace with solidarity and patience to maintain Pakistan’s global leadership role.
- He emphasized that Pakistan’s diplomatic success is not the result of any single individual but the coordinated effort of the nation.
