China has hosted key talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan aimed at easing tensions and finding a long-term solution to their ongoing disputes.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said both countries agreed not to take actions that could complicate or escalate the situation.
The agreement came during peace talks held in Urumqi, where both sides focused on addressing key issues and identifying possible measures to reduce tensions.
Comprehensive conflict resolution
According to Ning, Pakistan and Afghanistan agreed to explore a comprehensive solution to the conflict that erupted between the two countries last October.
The discussions emphasized the importance of resolving disputes through dialogue rather than confrontation, signaling a willingness from both sides to move toward stability.
China as mediator
China reiterated its commitment to facilitating peace between the two neighboring countries. Mao Ning said Beijing would continue to communicate with both Pakistan and Afghanistan and provide a platform for dialogue to help resolve outstanding issues.
All three countries — China, Pakistan, and Afghanistan — agreed on the need to maintain ongoing communication and engagement.
The talks concluded with a shared understanding that sustained dialogue is essential for achieving long-term peace and preventing further escalation in the region.
