China has welcomed the ceasefire between the United States and Iran, calling it a positive step toward regional stability. Chinese officials also acknowledged Pakistan’s role in helping bring both sides to the negotiating table.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said Beijing welcomes the announcement by relevant parties of reaching a ceasefire arrangement.
Speaking during a routine press briefing in Beijing, she emphasized that China advocates resolving conflicts through political dialogue to ensure long-term peace in the Gulf and Middle East region.
Pakistan’s mediation efforts
Mao Ning specifically appreciated the efforts made by Pakistan in facilitating the ceasefire.
Responding to a question by Anadolu Agency, she said China supports mediation efforts by countries such as Pakistan that aim to de-escalate tensions and promote peace.

The spokesperson added that China itself had made efforts to help halt the fighting between the US and Iran. Beijing, she noted, remains committed to playing a constructive role in promoting stability and peace in the region through diplomatic means.
Long-term regional stability
China reiterated that it seeks a lasting resolution to the conflict, stressing the importance of dialogue over confrontation.
According to Mao Ning, achieving long-term stability in the Gulf and Middle East remains a key priority, and ceasefire agreements are an important step in that direction.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump had suggested that China may have played a role in pushing Iran toward negotiations.

“I hear yes,” he said when asked by AFP whether Beijing had encouraged Tehran — a key ally — to agree to a truce.
Responding to the reports, a spokesperson for the Chinese embassy in Washington told CNN that China had been working to promote a ceasefire since the conflict began.
“China welcomes all efforts conducive to peace,” said Liu Pengyu, adding that all parties should seize the opportunity for dialogue and bring the conflict to an early end.
