Former Australian opener David Warner has been charged with drunk driving following an incident in Maroubra, Sydney, Australian media reported.
According to reports, Warner was stopped by New South Wales Police during a random breath test on Malabar Road. Authorities alleged that his blood alcohol level was recorded at 0.104 - more than double the legal limit in Australia. He was subsequently arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station, where a second test confirmed the reading.
Police said the 39-year-old was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice and is scheduled to appear before the Downing Centre Local Court on May 7, 2026.
Despite the legal issue, Warner’s participation in the Pakistan Super League 2026 is not expected to be affected. The left-handed batter, who is currently leading Karachi Kings, was on a personal trip to Sydney during a break in the tournament.
Karachi Kings are presently second on the PSL points table with six points from three matches, trailing Multan Sultans. Warner has scored 93 runs in three games so far this season, including one half-century.
The veteran cricketer last played international cricket against India in the Super 8 stage of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, following his retirement from Test cricket earlier in 2024 and from One Day Internationals after the 2023 World Cup.
