Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar, addressed the UN Security Council, emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and stability.
Speaking at the session, he said Pakistan respects the security and sovereignty of all friendly countries in the region and stressed the need for collective efforts to keep the Strait of Hormuz open.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the resolution submitted by Bahrain and called for giving negotiations and diplomacy more opportunities.
Ambassador Iftikhar highlighted that Pakistan seeks a sustainable and lasting solution to the ongoing issues and will continue to play an active role in reducing tensions. “War is not a solution to any problem; peace can only be achieved through dialogue,” he said.
He also noted that Pakistan’s global efforts toward facilitating a ceasefire have been widely appreciated, underscoring the country’s role as a responsible and constructive regional actor.
