The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolution concerning the Strait of Hormuz was vetoed by China, according to reports.
The draft resolution, submitted by Bahrain, had the support of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait. Eleven members voted in favor, two—including China—voted against, while two others, including Pakistan, abstained from voting.
The resolution emphasized the protection of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and did not include any provision for the use of force. A few days earlier, China and Russia had also blocked voting on the same resolution, highlighting ongoing disagreements among UNSC members regarding maritime security in the strategic waterway.
