Fresh leaks hint that Apple Inc. may take a different branding route for its first foldable device. Instead of “Fold,” the company could introduce it as the iPhone Ultra, signaling a premium shift in its lineup.
According to a post by known leaker Digital Chat Station, Apple’s upcoming book-style foldable iPhone may launch under the name “iPhone Ultra.”
The leaker, who has a strong track record with Apple-related information, shared the update on Weibo, sparking fresh discussion around the company’s naming strategy.
However, like most leaks, the claim remains unconfirmed.
Apple has previously used the “Ultra” label for its high-end products. These include the Apple Watch Ultra and advanced chips like M1 Ultra and M3 Ultra.
The branding signals top-tier performance and premium pricing.
In March, Mark Gurman also reported that Apple is considering extending the “Ultra” branding to future devices, including an OLED MacBook and AirPods with cameras.
Price and market impact
The foldable iPhone is expected to come with a hefty price tag, reportedly ranging between $2,000 and $2,500.
Meanwhile, Chinese smartphone makers are said to be evaluating whether to adopt similar “Ultra” branding for their foldable devices—though likely at lower price points to remain competitive.
Expected features
Based on current rumors, Apple’s foldable device could launch between September and December this year.
Key expected specs:
- Outer display: حوالي 5.3 to 5.5 inches
- Inner foldable screen: around 7.8 inches
- Cameras:
- Front-facing cameras in both folded and unfolded modes
- Dual-lens rear camera system
The device is expected to follow a book-style folding design, aligning with trends seen in the foldable smartphone market.
