Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed deep concern over the fall of missile debris at a port in the United Arab Emirates.
In a message posted on the social media platform X, the prime minister stated that he was seriously concerned about the incident at Khorfakkan Port, where missile debris reportedly landed. He noted that several civilians, including Pakistani nationals, were injured in the incident. He assured that all necessary assistance is being ensured for the affected Pakistanis.
The prime minister also prayed for the swift recovery of the injured and said that Pakistani authorities are in contact with UAE officials. He reaffirmed that Pakistan stands in solidarity with the people of the United Arab Emirates and emphasized the urgent need for restraint and de-escalation in the region.
Meanwhile, a report by The Wall Street Journal revealed that regional countries are actively working to bring Iran to the negotiating table. According to the report, countries including Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey are engaged in diplomatic efforts to facilitate talks with Iran.
The report further stated that mediating countries between the United States and Iran are making intensive efforts to secure a ceasefire. In the initial phase, a 45-day ceasefire is being considered, followed by negotiations for a comprehensive and final agreement. Backchannel communications through direct messages are also reportedly ongoing.
