Dr Niaz Ahmad Akhtar, Chairman of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, visited the Artificial Intelligence Lab established at Punjab University College of Information Technology.
On the occasion, Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Ali, Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology Professor Dr. Shahzad Sarwar, and others were also present.
During the visit, the Chairman received a detailed briefing on ongoing research, innovation-based initiatives, and developmental projects.
Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar appreciated the efforts of PUCIT in promoting a research-based environment and emphasised that artificial intelligence will play a significant role in shaping the future of higher education and industry.
He reiterated the full support of the Higher Education Commission for initiatives promoting innovation, interdisciplinary research, and skill development in line with global technological trends.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Ali thanked the Chairman for his visit and expressed the university’s commitment to further strengthen its research infrastructure and to prepare graduates capable of meeting the challenges of the digital era.
