Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced a major relief package for farmers and motorbike owners, aiming to ease the burden of rising fuel prices amid global economic pressures.
The move includes a diesel subsidy for farmers and fuel support for registered motorbike users across the province.
In a significant step to support the agricultural sector, Maryam Nawaz announced a subsidy of Rs150 per liter on diesel for farmers.
The subsidy will apply to:
-
Farmers owning up to 25 acres of land
-
Those cultivating wheat in Punjab
-
10 liters of diesel per acre
This means eligible farmers will receive financial assistance to reduce cultivation costs at a time when fuel prices are increasing.
In her message on X (formerly Twitter), the chief minister emphasized her government’s commitment to farmers. “Our farmers are the backbone of Punjab,” she said, adding that she would stand with them in every difficulty and protect their rights.
The surge in international oil prices amid ongoing global crises has led to a significant increase in petrol and diesel costs in Pakistan.
