The prime minister’s coordinator for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ikhtiar Wali Khan said that petroleum prices had risen across the world, adding that the regions from which oil is supplied were in turmoil.
Addressing a press conference, he said, the prime minister was extending subsidies to the poorer segments of society. He stated that transport in Islamabad had been made free and that an increase in railway fares had also been halted. "The prime minister is making every possible effort to provide relief to the public," he said.
Ikhtiar Wali Khan said that Taimur Jhagra had devastated the treasury of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He questioned the chief minister as to the whereabouts of Rs13 billion, and alleged that the Ramadan package in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been distributed among ministers and advisers. He said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had no agenda beyond negative politics, and asked where the 34 universities, once promised, had been established.
He said the time called for national unity and advised people to stay clear of propaganda.
