Pakistan has witnessed a significant increase in services exports, including information technology, telecommunications, and transport, during the current fiscal year.
According to a report by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, services exports grew by 18.38 percent. From July to February, the country exported services worth $6.46 billion, compared to $5.46 billion during the same period last fiscal year.
Exports in the telecom, computer, and IT sectors reached $3 billion, reflecting an increase of $490 million compared to the previous year. Other business services recorded exports worth $1.37 billion.
Transport services exports stood at $645 million, while travel services contributed $644 million during the same period.
However, Pakistan also imported services worth $8.60 billion, leading to a 3 percent increase in the services trade deficit. The deficit for the first eight months of the fiscal year reached $2.14 billion.
On a monthly basis, February 2026 saw a 7.33 percent decline in services exports, which totaled $812.2 million, compared to $876.4 million in January 2026.
Meanwhile, services imports in February stood at $910 million. Despite this, the services sector deficit narrowed by 64.26 percent during the month.
