Adviser to the prime minister for political affairs, Rana Sanaullah stated that the world is currently facing a serious energy challenge, with petroleum prices rising globally. Pakistan, he noted, is also being affected by the surge in fuel prices.
He emphasized that the government is taking steps to provide relief to the public and is implementing austerity measures. Over the past three weeks, relief amounting to Rs129 billion has been provided on petroleum products.
The government has decided to introduce targeted subsidies, particularly benefiting farmers and motorcycle owners. Additionally, passenger transport vehicles will receive up to Rs100,000 per month to prevent fare increases.
He claimed that in India, petrol is not even readily available, highlighting the severity of the regional situation.
Rana Sanaullah urged the opposition to strengthen the government instead of engaging in propaganda, adding that the government did not increase prices on its own. He said efforts are being made to help end ongoing global conflicts and suggested that protests should be directed against Israel instead.
He called on political parties to set aside political agendas during this critical time, warning that if the war continues, the world could face even worse conditions. He urged the nation to act with courage and unity, emphasizing cooperation rather than conflict among citizens.
He concluded by stressing that the current crisis is not created by the government but is part of a broader global challenge.
