The United Nations has warned of dangerous signs in view of the fragile situation in Lebanon and rising tensions in the region.
Expressing his thoughts, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Tom Fletcher said the world body was making efforts to reduce tensions and secure a ceasefire; however, the current situation was taking a worrying turn.
He said the situation in Lebanon was extremely fragile, where large-scale displacement was giving rise to hazardous conditions, making it essential to halt the conflict without delay.
Tom Fletcher added that the United Nations was also closely monitoring the situation in Iran and had expressed concern over the condition of displaced persons, adding that it stood ready to expand relief operations if required.
