The eight countries have urged the international community to take immediate notice of the situation. They stressed the need to ensure accountability of those responsible and called for effective steps to restore peace and stability in the region.
Law termed discriminatory, dangerous
The joint statement described the Israeli law as based on discrimination, warning that its application against Palestinian prisoners is a highly dangerous development.
It added that Israeli actions are strengthening a system rooted in racial discrimination, raising serious concerns about justice and equality.
Denial of fundamental rights
The foreign ministers stated that Israeli behaviour is tantamount to denying the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people, and even their right to existence. They emphasized that such actions further deepen grievances and tensions in the region.
The statement also expressed deep concern over the condition of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli detention. It highlighted reports that prisoners are facing torture, inhumane treatment, hunger, and deprivation of basic rights.
Human rights violations
The ministers termed the treatment of Palestinian prisoners a serious violation of human rights, calling for urgent international attention. They warned that continued actions of this nature risk worsening humanitarian conditions.
Rising regional tensions
According to the joint statement, Israeli actions are further increasing tensions in the region and undermining overall regional stability. The countries reiterated that without accountability and corrective measures, the situation could deteriorate further.
