US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran is now ready to strike a deal, describing ongoing negotiations as “sensible” while also asserting that the US has reshaped Iran’s leadership.
His remarks come amid escalating military developments and renewed diplomatic efforts.
Speaking during a White House media briefing, Trump said the United States is currently negotiating with Iran and engaging with “the right people.”
“We are negotiating with Iran. We are talking to the right people now,” he said, adding that Iranian representatives now “want a deal” and are “talking sensibly this time.”
Trump emphasized that multiple senior officials, including Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and envoy Steve Witkoff, are actively involved in the negotiations.

He added that Iran has agreed it will never develop nuclear weapons, calling it a key breakthrough. “They have agreed to it because they are going to make a deal,” he said.
‘Major oil and gas gift’ from Iran
Trump also revealed that Iran had sent what he described as a “very big gift” related to oil and gas.
“They gave us a gift and that gift arrived today. It was a huge gift, worth a tremendous amount of money,” he said, without providing further details.
He reiterated that the development was not nuclear-related but tied to energy, suggesting possible implications for the Strait of Hormuz or broader oil and gas dynamics.
Claims of regime change
In a series of strong statements, Trump claimed that the United States had effectively altered Iran’s leadership.
“We eliminated all their leadership, and then they gathered to elect new leaders — and we eliminated all of them,” he said. “Now we have a new group, and we can eliminate them too — but let’s see how this turns out.”
He went further, declaring: “We have indeed changed the regime."

Trump also claimed sweeping military success, stating that the US had “completely destroyed Iran’s war capabilities,” including its navy, air force, and defense systems.
“We control Iran’s airspace,” he said, adding that Iran’s missile stockpile has been significantly reduced.
Ongoing military tensions
Despite the diplomatic tone, Trump acknowledged that tensions remain high. He said the United Arab Emirates had faced major attacks, with “hundreds of missiles” fired at the country.
At the same time, reports suggest the Trump administration is considering tougher measures against Iran. According to a US newspaper, options include the capture of Kharg Island.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the US has decided to send 3,000 additional personnel to the Middle East, with airborne forces expected to be deployed within hours. Trump also did not rule out the possibility of further troop deployments.
Iran engagement continues
Trump maintained that the US is making “continuous gains” in Iran and that negotiations are progressing. “They are talking to us and they are talking sensibly,” he said. “Iran wants to deal with us, and we want it too.”
He also hinted at leadership changes in Iran, saying, “There is new leadership — we can call it regime change.”
Amid these developments, Pakistan has expressed willingness to host talks between the United States and Iran, potentially providing a diplomatic platform to ease tensions.
While Trump struck an optimistic tone about negotiations, the situation remains fluid, with ongoing military activity and strategic decisions still unfolding. His remarks reflect a mix of confidence in US gains and cautious anticipation about whether a final agreement with Iran can be reached.
