Iran is prepared to hear concrete proposals aimed at bringing a durable end to the conflict, according to a report by CNN citing Iranian sources.
The sources said the United States made contact in recent days, though the exchange has not yet reached the level of full negotiations. Iran maintained that several messages have been received through various intermediaries.
According to CNN, the purpose of these contacts may be to assess whether a ceasefire agreement is possible. Iran stated that any talks would not be limited to a ceasefire, but would address the complete resolution of the dispute.
Iran declined to comment on statements by President Donald Trump, adding that it stands ready to review workable proposals.
The report said Iran does not wish to enter into direct negotiations with the United States at present. However, it expressed willingness to provide assurances that it will not pursue nuclear weapons, while maintaining its right to peaceful nuclear technology.
Iranian sources confirmed that contacts between the United States and Iran have taken place in recent days.
