Germany’s President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has termed the United States’ war with Iran as a destructive political mistake and a breach of international law.
Addressing a ceremony in Berlin, the German president delivered strong criticism of US President Donald Trump for initiating the conflict, stating that the war stands in violation of international law.
He added that the justification for an immediate strike by the United States is not acceptable, and said the war is politically disastrous and one that could easily have been avoided.
The German president said that if the purpose of the war was to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, then the conflict is unnecessary.
