Pakistan is set to experience a fresh spell of unstable weather as rain and hailstorms are forecast across multiple regions from March 24 to 30.
Authorities have directed rescue agencies to remain on high alert to manage any emergency situations. According to the Meteorological Department, a new system of westerly winds will enter Balochistan on the evening of March 24.
This weather system is expected to bring intermittent rain across the country from March 24 to 30. During this period, hailstorms are also likely in various upper and plain areas.
The department added that the intensity of this weather system may increase in different parts of the country on the night of March 27.
Rain, hailstorm forecast
In Balochistan, rain and hailstorms are expected from March 24 to 25 and again from March 27 to 29. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain, hailstorms, and snowfall in mountainous areas are likely from March 25 to 26 and from March 28 to 30.
Meanwhile, central and southern Punjab, including Islamabad, Murree, and Rawalpindi, are also expected to receive rain and hailstorms during this period.
Rain and hailstorms may also occur in a few areas of Sindh, including Karachi, according to the Meteorological Department.
Risks of landslides, flash flooding
The ongoing weather system could bring potential hazards, especially in northern and western regions.
Authorities have warned of landslides in upper areas due to persistent rain and hailstorms. There is also a risk of flash flooding in tributary streams and local drains in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In response to the forecast, rescue agencies have been instructed to keep preparations in full swing to handle any emergency situation.
Officials are closely monitoring the evolving weather conditions to ensure timely response and minimize potential damage.
