Pakistan Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, bringing together diplomats and community members. The ceremony reflected on history, national resolve, and regional peace amid evolving South Asian dynamics.
The Chargé d’Affaires at the Pakistan High Commission, Saad Ahmed Warraich, hoisted the national flag at the Chancery Lawn as part of the Pakistan Day ceremony.
Messages from the president, prime minister, and deputy prime minister/foreign minister were read out, reinforcing the significance of the day and the country’s continued commitment to progress and stability.
Speaking at the event, Warraich described the Lahore Resolution of March 23, 1940 as a defining moment for Muslims of the subcontinent in their struggle for a separate homeland. He noted that under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, this collective movement led to the creation of Pakistan within just seven years.

Warraich also paid tribute to the martyrs of the Pakistan Movement, calling their sacrifices a lasting source of inspiration for safeguarding freedom and striving for national development and prosperity.
India and national defense
Commenting on current regional dynamics, Warraich said that the rise of Hindutva in India reflects the foresight of Pakistan’s founding leaders. He emphasized that history shows only nations capable of defending themselves can truly remain free.
Warraich added that the struggle for truth has once again strengthened Pakistan’s collective resolve to defend its homeland, noting that the world recognizes Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to protecting its sovereignty.
Praising the role of Pakistan’s armed forces, Warraich said their contributions remain vital in defending the country. He stated that Pakistan’s deterrence capability is not only a source of stability in South Asia but also a guarantee of broader regional peace.
Call for peaceful Pakistan-India relations
Addressing bilateral ties, Warraich stressed that peaceful relations between Pakistan and India can only be built on equality, mutual respect, and non-interference.
He underlined that resolving longstanding disputes is essential for improving ties between the two neighbours. Warraich reiterated that lasting peace and stability in South Asia depend on a just resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
He emphasized that the issue must be resolved in accordance with relevant UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
