Bloomberg reported that at least 16 US military aircraft have been destroyed since the start of the war with Iran, including ten Reaper strike drones hit by fire, with a further six planes badly damaged in attacks or accidents.
According to information provided by CENTCOM, the largest loss for the United States involved the destruction of three F-15 Eagle fighter jets, which fell in Kuwait. It was stated that they had been the target of friendly fire. In addition, a US refuelling aircraft, the KC-135 Stratotanker, crashed while refuelling, killing six crew members.
A report stated that five KC-135 aircraft stationed at a Saudi airbase were reportedly damaged in missile attacks, which were later termed as unfounded by Donald Trump, who said that four out of the five planes remained operational.
The report added that the Iranian air defence system had targeted at least nine Reaper drones in the air, while a US drone was destroyed during a missile attack at an airfield in Jordan.
Moments ago, the Revolutionary Guards claimed to have targeted another highly expensive and advanced US F-35 aircraft, while a CENTCOM spokesperson stated that the aircraft had landed safely and the pilot was stable. CENTCOM did not comment on the damage sustained by the plane.
