The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has introduced a new five-year strategy for Pakistan aimed at boosting sustainable development and economic stability.
The plan outlines key reforms across multiple sectors to strengthen long-term growth.
The Asian Development Bank has prepared a comprehensive development plan for Pakistan under its newly introduced Country Partnership Framework.
According to the ADB report, the strategy spans five years and is designed to support sustainable economic progress in the country.
Focus on strengthening economy
The new framework aims to strengthen and improve Pakistan’s economy through targeted reforms and investments. ADB has emphasized that supporting economic stability remains a central objective of the plan.
A key component of the strategy is increased support for private businesses in Pakistan. The initiative is expected to create more job opportunities, particularly benefiting women as well as the broader population.
Education, skills development prioritised
ADB will also focus on improving education and enhancing skill development across the country. These measures are intended to equip the workforce with the tools needed for better employment opportunities and economic participation.
The plan includes significant work on electricity and clean energy projects. ADB aims to address Pakistan’s power challenges while promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly energy solutions.
Addressing agriculture, water challenges
Agriculture and water-related issues are also a major part of the new strategy. Efforts will be made to improve resource management and resolve long-standing challenges in these critical sectors.
The framework incorporates projects focused on flood management and climate risk protection. These initiatives aim to enhance Pakistan’s resilience against environmental challenges and natural disasters.
Boosting investment and cooperation
ADB plans to increase investment in Pakistan as part of the new strategy.
According to the announcement, the bank is already supporting Pakistan, and cooperation will be further expanded under this framework.
