Two personnel of the Pakistan Coast Guards were martyred and another was injured after gunmen opened fire at a check post in Gwadar, officials confirmed.
The attack occurred in the Jeyuni area, prompting condemnation from the federal government and renewed concerns over security in the region.
According to the District Police Officer (DPO), unidentified attackers opened fire at a Pakistan Coast Guards check post in the Jeyuni area of Gwadar.
The firing left two personnel martyred, while one soldier was injured in the attack.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident while security forces remain on high alert in the area.
Interior minister condemns attack
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the firing at the Coast Guard check post.
He paid tribute to the martyred personnel Salem and Adnan, praising their bravery and sacrifice while performing their duties.
Condolences
In his statement, Mohsin Naqvi expressed heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the families of the martyrs.
He said the Pakistan Coast Guards personnel sacrificed their lives to thwart the plans of terrorists, adding that their sacrifice would not go in vain.
The interior minister also assured that the government would take full care of the families of the martyred personnel.
The interior minister directed authorities to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured soldier Azeem.
Officials confirmed that medical assistance is being provided as authorities continue to monitor the situation.
