Pakistan’s Ministry of Information has the false propaganda by the Afghan Taliban regime regarding a supposed drone strike in Wana.
The so-called Afghan Taliban Ministry of Defence had claimed that a successful drone attack had taken place in Wana. The federal Information Ministry stated that, in fact, a simple drone was neutralised through a soft-kill mechanism in South Waziristan.
According to the Ministry of Information, the drone caused no damage to any military installation or basic infrastructure. Rejecting the claim, the Information Ministry clarified that the drone had merely been destroyed through a soft-kill method in South Waziristan, contradicting the Taliban’s assertion of a successful strike.
The ministry said the episode once again illustrated that the Taliban regime continued to circulate fabricated claims.
It added that a similar false claim had recently surfaced regarding the downing of a Pakistan Air Force aircraft and the arrest of its pilot. A fact check by the Information Ministry concluded that the Afghan Taliban regime’s assertions could not be relied upon.
