Pakistan’s batting lineup suffered a dramatic collapse against Bangladesh in the first One Day International (ODI), getting bowled out for just 114 runs and registering one of their lowest totals.
In the match being played in Dhaka, Bangladesh won the toss and chose to field first against Pakistan at Mirpur.
Pakistan’s batting proved fragile like a wall of sand as the top order failed, the middle order collapsed, and no batter managed to build a solid innings. Opener Sahibzada Farhan was the top scorer with 27 runs, while Muaz Sadaqat contributed 18 runs. Captain Mohammad Rizwan could only manage 10 runs, and Salman Ali Agha was dismissed for 5.
Lower down the order, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Hussain Talat scored 4 runs each, while Abdul Samad was dismissed for zero. The rest of the batting lineup also failed to resist Bangladesh’s bowling attack.
Notably, four Pakistani players are making their ODI debut in this match: Sahibzada Farhan, Muaz Sadaqat, Abdul Samad, and Shamil Hussain.
Pakistan’s playing XI also includes Mohammad Rizwan, Salman Ali Agha, Hussain Talat, Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Wasim, and Abrar Ahmed.
The low total has placed Pakistan under immediate pressure as Bangladesh begins their chase with a strong advantage in the opening match of the series.
