India’s dominant campaign at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 has been reflected in the official Team of the Tournament, with four Indian players making the cut.
The side also features standout performers from Pakistan, South Africa, England, West Indies, Zimbabwe and the United States following a thrilling month of cricket.
Defending champions India became the first team to win back-to-back T20 World Cup titles after defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
While India controlled the tournament on home soil, several players from different teams delivered remarkable performances throughout the competition.
The Team of the Tournament was selected by a panel consisting of Ian Bishop, Natalie Germanos and Eoin Morgan (broadcasters), ICC representative Gaurav Saxena, and Sri Lankan sports journalist Rex Clementine.
Sanju Samson named Player of Tournament
India’s Sanju Samson was named Player of the Tournament after an outstanding run-scoring spree. The wicketkeeper-batter scored 321 runs in five innings at an average of 80.25 and a strike rate of 199.37.
Samson began the tournament outside India’s starting XI but seized his chance with spectacular performances, including a Player of the Match display against the West Indies and England.
He delivered his best in the knockout stage, scoring an unbeaten 97 against the West Indies, followed by 89 in the semi-final against England and another 89 in the final against New Zealand.

His knock of 89 in the final became the highest individual score in a Men’s T20 World Cup final, and he also became only the second batter to score three consecutive 80-plus scores in the tournament.
Sahibzada Farhan tournament’s top run-scorer
Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan earned his place in the team after finishing as the leading run-scorer of the tournament. Farhan scored 383 runs in seven matches at an average of 76.60 and a strike rate of 160.25, the highest aggregate in a single edition of the T20 World Cup.
The 29-year-old also became the first batter to score two centuries in a single T20 World Cup, with hundreds against Sri Lanka and Namibia.
His century against Sri Lanka in the final Super Eight clash helped Pakistan secure a five-run victory, even though the team exited the tournament at the Super Eight stage.
Ishan Kishan shines
India’s Ishan Kishan was another standout performer, scoring 317 runs in nine matches at a strike rate of 193.29. His aggressive batting provided India with strong starts throughout the tournament.
One of his most memorable performances came against Pakistan, where he scored 77 off 40 balls, including 10 fours and three sixes.
After spending two years out of the side, Kishan completed a remarkable comeback and also contributed 54 runs and two important catches in the final.
Aiden Markram leads South Africa’s charge
South Africa captain Aiden Markram was named captain of the Team of the Tournament. Markram scored 286 runs in eight matches at an average of 47.66, including three half-centuries.
He played key innings such as 86 not out against New Zealand and 82 not out against the West Indies in the Super Eight stage.
Markram also contributed with the ball, claiming the early wicket of Kishan against India, although South Africa eventually lost in the semi-final.
Hardik Pandya delivers
India’s Hardik Pandya was selected as an all-rounder after scoring 217 runs at a strike rate of 160.74 and taking nine wickets. Pandya struck two half-centuries, including a rapid 50 off 23 balls against Zimbabwe, helping India post 256/4, the highest team total of the tournament.
With the ball, he produced a memorable spell against Pakistan, dismissing Sahibzada Farhan for a duck and later bowling Usman Tariq.
England’s Will Jacks had a breakout tournament with 226 runs at a strike rate of 176.56 and nine wickets. Batting lower in the order, he played the role of finisher effectively.
His best innings was an unbeaten 53 against Italy, while his 32 not out against New Zealand helped England secure a crucial win in the Super Eight stage.
Jacks also took three wickets against Sri Lanka and won four Player of the Match awards, equaling Shane Watson’s record for the most in a T20 World Cup.
West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder secured his place after contributing 10 wickets and 141 runs. Holder’s performance against Nepal stood out, where he claimed 4/27, including three of the top five wickets.
He also impressed in the Super Eight match against India, taking 2/38 and scoring 37 not out off 22 balls.
Jasprit Bumrah dominates

Bumrah delivered a match-winning performance in the final with 4/15 against New Zealand, earning the Player of the Match award.
His control was also crucial in the semi-final against England, where his tight 18th over conceding just six runs played a key role in India’s victory.
South Africa pacer Lungi Ngidi took 12 wickets in seven matches at an average of 15.58. He started the tournament with 4/31 against Canada and later recorded two additional three-wicket hauls.
Although he did not take wickets against India, Ngidi’s spell of four overs for just 15 runs helped contain India’s strong batting lineup.
Adil Rashid leads spin attack
England’s Adil Rashid is the only specialist spinner included in the team. He took 13 wickets in eight matches at an average of 19.23.
Rashid played a key role in England’s Super Eight victories, including 2/13 against Sri Lanka, which triggered a collapse after Sri Lanka had restricted England to 146/9.
Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani was instrumental in his team’s impressive campaign. He took 13 wickets in six matches at an average of 14.46.
One of his standout performances came against Australia, where he took 4/17 to help Zimbabwe secure a 23-run victory.
