Pakistan head coach Mike Hesson has stressed the importance of quickly adapting to local conditions as the team prepares for its upcoming series against Bangladesh.
Speaking at a pre-series press conference in Dhaka, Hesson said the tour will also serve as a valuable opportunity to test new and emerging talent in the squad.
Mike Hesson said Pakistan will need to adapt quickly to the conditions in Bangladesh, which are often challenging for visiting teams. He acknowledged that Bangladesh has traditionally been a strong team in its home conditions, but expressed confidence that Pakistan has the ability to beat them.
“Bangladesh is a good team in its own conditions, but we can beat them,” the Pakistan head coach said.
New players get opportunity
Hesson revealed that the squad includes several new faces who have impressed while playing for Pakistan Shaheens. According to him, the upcoming series will provide these players with a significant opportunity to showcase their abilities at the international level.
“This series will be a challenge for the new players,” he said, adding that it will help the team evaluate emerging talent.
Young domestic performers
The Pakistan coach said there are many players in domestic cricket who have been waiting for an opportunity like this. He described the Bangladesh tour as an ideal chance to assess young talent and give promising players exposure in international cricket.
“This is a good opportunity for us to see young talent,” Hesson noted.
Spin strength in middle overs
Highlighting the team’s strategy, Hesson said Pakistan has strong spin options in the middle overs, which could play an important role during the series. Spin bowling is often crucial on Bangladeshi pitches, and the head coach believes Pakistan’s spinners can make a difference.
Commenting on the playing conditions, Hesson said the pitch in Bangladesh looks good this time. He noted that earlier pitches were not as good, suggesting that the current surface may offer a more balanced contest between bat and ball.
Question about Babar Azam
During the press conference, Hesson was also asked about Babar Azam and the team selection. In response, he clarified that no player was dropped in particular, addressing speculation regarding squad decisions.
