US President Donald Trump said the United States is in a “very strong position” in the ongoing conflict with Iran, claiming the operation has already eliminated key Iranian leaders.
Speaking from the White House, Trump defended the military campaign and warned that anyone attempting to take leadership in Iran could face the same fate.
During his speech, President Trump said that the Iranian leadership had been eliminated during the military operation. He also stated that individuals who attempted to emerge as leaders in Iran had been killed, warning that “anyone who wants to be a leader in Iran will end up dead.”
Trump argued that the strikes had dramatically weakened the Iranian power structure and significantly shifted the balance of the conflict.
US military in strong position
The US president emphasized the strength of American military capabilities during the ongoing campaign.
“The United States has the most powerful army in the world,” Trump said, adding that Washington is currently in a strong position in the war.
He also claimed that Iran’s missile platforms are being rapidly eliminated as part of the ongoing operation. Trump further stated, “We are the best in war,” while expressing confidence in the progress of the military campaign.
Trump accuses Iran of regional aggression
In his remarks, Trump accused Iran of destabilizing the region and attacking its neighbors.
“Iran attacked its neighbors and its allies,” the US president said. He also argued that the military operation was necessary to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
“If Iran had not been attacked, it would have had a nuclear bomb,” Trump claimed.
The current military campaign aims to dismantle Iran’s missile capabilities and prevent it from developing nuclear weapons, according to US officials.
Trump also renewed his criticism of the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran negotiated during former president Barack Obama’s administration. He described the agreement as “very bad”, arguing that it failed to stop Iran’s long-term nuclear ambitions.
According to Trump, the current US position in the conflict is now “very strong” compared to previous years.
Decades-long conflict has ended
The US president said the military campaign had effectively stopped what he described as “a massacre going on for 47 years". Trump added that the situation involving Iran is currently stable, suggesting the operation had significantly weakened Tehran’s ability to threaten the region.
He also mentioned that oil supplies from Venezuela have started flowing, a development he said could help stabilize global energy markets amid the ongoing conflict.
Trump’s remarks come as the United States and Israel continue large-scale military operations against Iran, targeting missile facilities, naval assets and military infrastructure.
Officials say the goal of the campaign is to degrade Iran’s military capabilities and prevent the country from obtaining nuclear weapons.
However, the war has also raised fears of a wider regional conflict and drawn strong reactions from governments around the world.
