Adviser to the prime minister, Rana Sanaullah, said on Wednesday that Pakistan, Turkiye and friendly countries are striving to mediate between Iran and the United States. Pakistan has facilitated an arrangement between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
Expressing his thoughts on Samaa TV programme Red Line with Talat, Sanaullah said that some countries have played a negative role. Israel acted alone previously, and now India is also involved. He added that countries seeking to maintain tensions prefer the situation to remain unsettled. "Pakistan has advised Iran not to target Muslim countries, particularly Saudi Arabia. The arrangement between Riyadh and Tehran now appears to be stabilising."
"Pakistan and Turkiye are attempting to broker agreements between Qatar and the United Arab Emirates," he said.
Sanaullah warned that rising oil prices would put pressure on economies, with developing nations like Pakistan feeling the greatest strain. He said that if a state collapses, it poses different threats to neighbouring countries. "The prime minister offered words of encouragement to the Turkish president last night," Sanaullah maintained.
He also stated that weapons in Afghanistan arrived from India via aircraft. Pakistan’s objective was to dismantle terrorist training camps in Afghanistan. The military leadership could have advanced to Kabul if required. "The armed forces achieved nearly 95 per cent of their objectives with minimal hesitation," he said.
