US President Donald Trump warned that more intense military action against Iran could be imminent, saying the United States had already targeted Iranian ballistic missile sites and may escalate operations if necessary.
Speaking at a public event, Trump said Iran’s long-range missile programme and nuclear ambitions posed a serious threat, adding that Washington remained determined to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
He stated that the United States had previously struck Iranian nuclear facilities and suggested that further large-scale action, including the potential deployment of ground forces, could be required. Trump also claimed that dozens of Iranian leaders had been killed in recent attacks and said dismantling Iran’s missile programme remained a top strategic priority.
He added that diplomatic efforts had failed after Iran ignored US warnings, reinforcing Washington’s stance that Iran would not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons under any circumstances.
US President also signalled that American ground forces could eventually be deployed into Iran if military objectives are not met through air and naval operations, underscoring a potential escalation as the campaign against Tehran continues.
Speaking to the New York Post, Trump said he would not rule out sending “boots on the ground” into Iran “if they were necessary,” departing from the longstanding US precedent of relying mainly on air and missile strikes. While he stressed that ground troops were not currently involved, Trump emphasised flexibility in his approach to the ongoing conflict.
