Former Pakistan leg-spinner Usman Qadir, son of the late Abdul Qadir, has withdrawn his retirement from international cricket and declared himself available for national selection.
The 31-year-old had stepped away from the international game on October 3, 2024. On Sunday, he announced that he was once again ready to represent Pakistan in all formats.
In a statement on social media platform X, Qadir said cricket was not merely a sport for him but a legacy handed down through his family.
“After a period of reflection and a successful stint in Australia, I have decided to withdraw my retirement from all formats of international cricket with immediate effect,” he said.
He added that after consultation with his family, he had resolved to make himself available for selection for the sake of Pakistan.
Qadir said his recent spell in Australia restored his confidence. He claimed 41 wickets during his campaign and said the response strengthened his belief that he still had much to offer at the highest level.
“My time in Australia reminded me that my competitive edge remains sharp. I believe I can still make a meaningful contribution on the global stage,” he said.
